Summary:

The aircraft was taking off when the pilot reportedly saw birds on the runway ahead. Shortly after lift-off he saw that the engine torque gauge was reading zero. He performed a forced landing in a field with the landing gear retracted which resulted in major damage to the aircraft but without injury to the occupants. No physical evidence of bird impact was found either on the airframe or the engine.
