Abstract

This review focuses on indigenous knowledge use in natural resources management, particularly water resources management, within the context of livelihood systems. The review identifies locally developed and adapted technologies for potential implementation and also identifies, through comparative analysis, the institutional and policy settings best suited to the implementation of an integrated and sustainable water resources management strategy which makes best use of the indigenous knowledge at its disposal.
