Understanding Approaches To Inducing Neutralizing Antibodies - November 2008. What Are Some Of The Novel Approaches Researchers Are Exploring To Induce Broadly Neutralizing Antibodies Against HIV?

Abstract

Antibodies that can effectively neutralize many different forms of HIV are referred to as broadly neutralizing antibodies. Vaccine research has been aimed at developing a vaccine that would induce formation of these antibodies. So far though, few antibodies of this kind have been found and no vaccine has yet been developed that can induce their formation. This Primer considers alternative approaches to the problem such as introducing genes for broadly neutralizing antibodies into man.
