Abstract

This Insight Note reports trends in mathematics learning for Grade 4 pupils in Ethiopia between 2012-13 and 2018-19 to explore the possible explanations for the decline in learning levels among primary school pupils in relation to the General Education Quality Improvement Programme (GEQIP) reforms that were intended to improve quality and equity in the Ethiopian basic education system.
