Strategies for forage production and erosion control as a complement to hillside weed management. Final Technical Report.

Abstract

The scope of the Project was to develop soil and water conservation practices that produce forage for the livestock of hillside small holders. Building on the outputs of a previous project (R6621), live barriers of grasses and legumes have been established at nine on-farm sites. The sites are all in the Bolivian mid-Andean valley region that is characterized by being high (up to 4000 masl); dry (usually less then 500 mm of rain per year) and cool (average temperatures around 8ºC).
