Social Consequences of the Changing Landscape for Mixed Livestock Production Systems

Abstract

This presentation was given at the International Conference on \"Livestock in a Changing Landscape\", held in Bangkok, Thailand, 28th November 2006. The presentation explains the widespread occurance of small, mixed crop-livestock farms and that they will continue to contribute to livestock output and rural employment. In concluding, the presentation assures that small mixed farms can be competitive, industrialised and can co-exist with large scale farming systems.
