Abstract

This research project arose in an attempt to assess the social and political setting of a fishing community in Melanesia and the performance of community-based management within this setting. Research was undertaken in Vanuatu and Fiji, from July 1996 to November 1998. This volume outlines significant research previously carried out. The methodology employed is described.
