Political economy and governance in Syria

Presentations from the Political Economy and Governance in Syria conference organised at LSE 3-4 December 2018

Abstract

In December 2018, the Conflict Research Programme (CRP) Syria team held the “Political Economy and Governance in Syria” conference at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), aiming to bring together speakers who could help put together the jigsaw pieces of Syria’s current landscape as it is, and not as they wish to see it. The positive feedback received about the conference motivated the production of this report. It conveys the content of each presentation, through the speakers’ materials or through our own summary. It also captures the rich debates held throughout the conference.

This work is part of the Conflict Research Programme managed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and funded by the UK Department for International Development.
