Plant types for small wetland treatment. Final Report, 2nd April 2009.

Abstract

This response to a DEWPoint helpdesk enquiry provides a list of plants which could be used in small treatment gardens for the treatment of effluent from septic tanks in Indonesia (Sumatra). Latin and common names are given, together with an indication of their usefulness (nitrogen/phosphorus absorption, ornamental or to aid mosquito control). The plants are grouped by plant habit: emergents, submerged, floating and rooted floating leaf.

This report was produced by DEW Point, a Resource Centre for Environment, Water and Sanitation, that was funded by DFID and managed by a consortium of companies led by Harewelle International Limited. The Resource Centre closed in 2012.
