Participation of vulnerable groups in natural resources management in the Kumasi peri-urban interface.

Abstract

This report documents research which observed the participation of the marginal and the vulnerable in natural resource management (NRM) in the Kumasi peri-urban interface.

The report concludes that vulnerable groups are significantly excluded from NRM through organised institutions but that they are included in traditional belief and utilisation related systems of management. Findings also indicated that, generally, vulnerability will increase in the future in the more rural peri-urban communities, rather than in the more urbanised peri-urban communities.
