Orissa State Case Study: Bolangir District fieldwork report, Phase one
Abstract
This report contains the results of field work in two blocks of Bolangir District, and includes case studies of four villages (and their significant hamlets in some cases), Self-Help Groups, and individual entrepreneurs. The report is part of a study of the factors that can contribute to the expansion of the non-farm rural economy in India, which also includes a case study in Madhya Pradesh. The purpose is to identify policy interventions that can expand non- farm activities through the understanding of how to promote peoples’ access to them, and how to provide the governance framework that is most conducive to their promotion.
