Integrating mental health into primary care re-engineering in South Africa: A no-brainer.
Abstract
The keynote address presented the District Health System model for South Africa. It proposes that the District Mental Health Team should support the planning of the mental health service needs, and provide specialist training, supervision and support for the District. At a more general primary health care and community level, it is proposed that doctors, nurses and counsellors be trained to detect, manage and refer priority mental disorders.
