Inequalities in birth outcomes in Russia: evidence from Tula oblast.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to describe pregnancy outcomes and identify their determinants in a Russian region, in 2000. The study includes all births and perinatal deaths recorded as occurring in Tula oblast in 2000. The socio-economic correlates of adverse outcomes are explored by means of logistic regression and outcomes and their determinants are compared with other countries.
