Higher education, capability expansion and pro-poor professionalism in South Africa.

Abstract

The paper outlines the goals of the 'Development discourses: higher education and poverty reduction in South Africa' project and considers how through capability expansion, university/professional education can contribute to poverty reduction. An example of a human development professional capability is presented and university human development/ transformation (HDT) dimensions are outlined.
