Final Technical Report: Applications of satellite remote sensing for monitoring of wildlife and national parks

Abstract

This document represents the final report of project R5152. The report describes project activities and outputs, most notably the development of an easy and cost effective method of obtaining detailed information, through local remote sensing to supplement and complement data on the ground through traditional means. Research activities included work on suitable satellite techniques for animal tracking, vegetation monitoring, fire detection, water surface monitoring, dust monitoring and environmental change, to be incorporated into an operational park management GIS for Etosha National Park.
