Conducting an ethnography on the role of user cooking behaviour in household energy consumption
Presents an investigation into the role of user cooking behaviour in household energy consumption.
Abstract
This research explored how cooking behaviour influences energy usage patterns and households’ transition towards electric cooking appliances. The methodology employed a mixed approach, incorporating entry interviews, participatory observations, energy monitoring diaries, exit interviews, and focus group discussions. A diverse sample of 25 households drawn from the rural, urban, peri-urban and informal settlements was selected to capture a comprehensive view of cooking behaviours and energy consumption dynamics.
