Hazard
The product has been identified as presenting a risk of fire and burns due to multiple safety defects. The plug was incorrectly rated for the fuse link fitted, presenting a fire hazard. Although the heating element was fitted with a device to interrupt power in response to abnormal temperatures, the device did not operate in sufficient time to prevent flames from being produced from the appliance in abnormal conditions, presenting a fire hazard.
The mains supply cord was too thin, had excessive resistance and was protected by an incorrectly rated fuse link, presenting a fire hazard. The product also requires improvements to labelling, markings and instructions.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The product has been recalled from end users and listings removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).
