Hazard

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as when tested, the earth wire in the mains IEC power cord supplied was found to be wired to the live terminal of the plug. When connected to power, the device won’t work but the conductive casing then becomes live, meaning that in the highly likely event the consumer touches the outer casing, they will receive an electric shock. Furthermore, the fuse did not comply with BS1362 as the length was only measured to be 24.35mm, below the required minimum of 25mm. The endcaps on the fuse were insecurely fixed, and the fuse had not been supplied with any granular filler. The instructions supplied with the product were deemed inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Corrective action

Recall of product from end users.
