UK guidance on products with multiple trade names: UK21/G016 Amendment 1

This UK approved recommendation replaces UK approved recommendation UK21/G016 on the certification of products with more than one trade name.

Question

Is it acceptable to issue separate UK type‐examination certificates for a product with different trade names?

Recommendation

Separate UK type‐examination certificates for each trade name may be issued or several trade names may be included in one type-examination certificate provided that the manufacturer supplies a written declaration stating:

  • the correspondence between the tested product and the alternative trade names,
  • that the alternative names are for marketing purpose only,
  • that the products are strictly identical.

Technical documentation will include this declaration in addition to the product details.
