Clarification on class C fire doors: UK21/F002
Adopted EU recommendation FIRE-006. UK-approved recommendation on the testing standards for Class C fire doors.
Question
Are Class C fire doors subject to the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2016 as amended under UK/3.16?
Recommendation
No.
This interpretation uses the principle from the requirement of item UK/3.13 which applies to all non-combustible materials, while MED/3.11 applies only to class A and B divisions. It would appear that while all materials are to be certified, only A and B class finished products (such as doors) are subject to the requirements of the Regulations.
