Safety warning to all mariners who wear inflatable lifejackets

This document makes urgent recommendations to users, service stations and suppliers of inflatable lifejackets.

Summary

The loss of one crewman after the sinking of the fishing vessel Radiant about 45 miles north-west of the Isle of Lewis 10 April 2002. Only one of the five lifejackets inflated following the abandoning of the vessel.

This Safety Bulletin is for the attention of all mariners who wear inflatable lifejackets and recommends that they check that the gas cylinder is firmly tightened into the release unit.
