Summary
A sailing student was knocked overboard from the Etchells 22 Keelboat, Wahoo, off Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, England. He was hit by the boom when the boat gybed accidentally. Two instructors, who were accompanying the sailing boat in a diesel launch, were unable to recover him from the water. Initially reporting no injuries the student quickly tired and fell unconscious. Despite continuous efforts resuscitate the casualty he was later declared dead.
