Heavy weather damage to passenger vessel.

Action taken:

The Chief Inspector of marine accidents has made the following recommendation to the owner and the captain of the vessel:

  • The lessons learnt from this accident should be promulgated through the issue of a MAIB Safety Digest article.

  • A Chief Inspector’s letter should be sent to the classification society and shipbuilder bringing their attention to the failure of the bearing housings
