SGSELSG3070 - Issuing and presentation of licences: Open General Export Licences (OGELs)

There are a number of different OGELs in existence which permit the exportation of many types of licensable goods to various destinations, removing the need for exporters to apply for specific licences. Any exporter, provided they fulfil the conditions and have not been barred, can export goods under an OGEL by quoting on the commercial and official documentation that the goods are being exported under a particular OGEL.

An export declaration is required, on which the exporter or agent must quote the relevant document code and licence reference number in box 44. Current OGELs can be found on the DBT website at http://www.bis.gov.uk/whatwedo/europeandtrade/strategic-export-control/licences/ogels/index.html
