Class 4 NICs: computation of liability: particular trades: marine pilots

ICTA88/S607 provides for the approval of a retirement benefits scheme for marine pilots, see BIM61855 for further information.

Under ICTA88/S607 (3), members’ contributions are an allowable expense in computing the pilots’ profits assessable under Schedule D Case II. As the contributions are an allowable expense in arriving at the profit under Schedule D case II, they are allowable expenses in arriving at the Class 4 NICs profit and are not disallowed under SSCBA92/SCH2/PARA3 (2)(f).
