MLR3C10420 - Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSPS): Introduction- Company Formation Agents

All limited companies in the United Kingdom are required to register with Companies House, supply information relating to their ownership and supply accounts annually. This information is a public record that can be viewed on payment of a fee. There are three separate Registries in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast that deal with registrations of companies in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively. Today registration takes place in accordance with the Companies Act 2006. The role of a company formation agent is to set up companies for clients by arranging for the necessary registration forms to be submitted to Companies House. Once these have been satisfactorily completed and the Companies House registration fees paid, the client becomes the proprietor of a registered company.

Some formation agents will also arrange for the formation of companies in non UK jurisdictions.
