LPOG1100 - Labour Market Learning

LPOG Guidance should be read in conjunction with guidance in the Compliance Handbook (CH) and Compliance Operational Guidance (COG) plus other available guidance which is linked throughout the pages of the LPOG.

The FIS Civil Teams Foundation Learning Document covers all training needs that are essential to Labour Market (LM) work and shows all mandatory training available and generic training for the Tax Professional roles & Non Tax Professional roles. There are different modules for Direct Tax and Indirect Tax (found at the bottom of the page). They include details of all learning material available through Kallidus which is either mandatory or useful to LM teams:

  • LM Awareness (Product Code 0017171) is mandatory for anyone new to a LM team and provides an awareness of why LM teams were set up, the risks they tackle, and the wide range of interventions they can use.
  • Employment Intermediaries Awareness (Product Code 0016662) is mandatory for anyone in FIS ISB and will develop awareness of employment intermediaries and how they are used to avoid employment taxes.
  • Employment Intermediaries Advanced (Product Code 0016997) is a requirement for anyone working/involved in an intermediary’s case (including managers who may have team members involved in these cases).
  • Employment Intermediaries 2 days F2F event (Product Code 0017107) is aimed at those actively working Intermediary cases.
  • Illegal Working Awareness (Product Code 0016951) is mandatory for all LM staff and will provide an understanding of illegal working, its impact on the labour market, the potential abuse and exploitation of illegal labour and the steps being taken to tackle it.
  • Illegal Working Advanced (Product Code 0017105) is mandatory for all LM staff and provides further guidance on tackling illegal working risks, building on previous e-learning packages about modern slavery and illegal working.
  • Illegal Working Hydra event (Product Code 0017066) is a trainer-led interactive event which gives those most likely to be involved in cross-government operations to tackle illegal working the opportunity to learn about the issues involved in these types of operations in a virtual environment.
  • Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness (Product Code 0016805) is mandatory for all Compliance staff and will give an understanding of modern slavery, the way the UK will tackle it and the role investigators can play.
  • Securities Awareness (Product Code 0016779) provides an overview of Securities work, including why the legislation was introduced, the Securities process and the Appeals process.
  • Insolvency Awareness (Product Code 00001650937) is to introduce investigators to insolvency issues that may affect day to day compliance work.
