Holding and Movement Alcohol Strategy - Unannounced Visits

Procedures and good practice: How should I interview the trader?

An unannounced visit may cause the trader to feel nervous, alarmed or even confrontational and this will require careful handling. When questioning the trader you should ensure that you are firm, persistent and polite. Ensure you are discreet. Remember that traders will not wish to discuss their affairs in front of staff or customers. Details of the visit should be documented in your notebook and the trader asked to read, agree and sign the entry.
