ECSH34315 - Closure and scoring

Once the outcome has been agreed by your manager (and the Outcomes: Decision and Evidence Log (DEL), where appropriate, signed off by your line manager), you can issue the outcome to the business - ECSH34030 - issue outcome letter. Once all actions are finalised, you can close your case on Caseflow or registration case management service (RCM), depending on your work area. You must also close your case on the case tracker relevant to your work area.

Exit survey

Caseflow will ask you whether you have issued the exit survey. The Exit Survey must be issued for Business as usual cases. see CCG Exit Survey for instructions on issuing the Exit Survey.

The following exceptions apply:

NonBAU Compliance Cases

Exit Surveys should not be issued for cases involving:

  • Suspected criminal activity
  • Joint visits with other HMRC teams or external partners (e.g. Police, NCA, Trading Standards, FCA)

These scenarios remain exempt as they do not represent an appropriate use of survey resources and are likely to generate disproportionately negative responses that would not reflect the broader scope and impact of ECS compliance work.

Policing the Perimeter (PtP) Cases

Exit Surveys will not be issued for PtP cases, where businesses are contacted for registration purposes. These cases frequently result in penalties or referrals for criminal action, and therefore would also generate responses that are not representative of typical compliance activity.

If an exception applies, the reason for the exception must be stated.
