Counterfeit currency, protected coins, printing plates and dies: Definition of counterfeit currency and protected coins

A Counterfeit currency note and a protected coin is defined as that which:

  • Resembles a note or coin (whether on one or both sides) to such an extent that it is reasonably capable of passing for a genuine note or coin; or
  • The item has been altered in such a way that it is reasonably capable of passing for a note or coin of some other description.
