CDSSG04720 - Navigating the Tariff, Step 7 - Finding commodity code documentary requirements

Whilst Appendix 5 contains the full list of Document Codes which may be used in DE 2/3 on CDS, Step 7 of the Navigation Guide, for the specific Movement Type, directs users to check the Commodity Code for any Documentary requirements first.

Look up in the UK Global Tariff (for movements into and out of GB) and the NI Online Tariff (for movements into and out of Northern Ireland) the commodity code you identified in step 2.

For Northern Ireland movements both UK and EU controls may apply according to the journey being made:

Which Tariff Measures apply in Northern Ireland?

Status of the goods

NIDOM

NIIMP

Conditions

For the chosen commodity code, select either the import or export tab to identify any documentary requirements.

Any conditions applicable to the commodity and the country from which the goods are being imported should be checked to see if any documentary controls are required.

Each document code shown under ‘Conditions’ in the Commodity Codes Import or Export tab should be looked up in Appendix 5 to see if the circumstances apply to the goods being declared.

If the circumstances are met, the document code must be declared in DE 2/3 or the declaration will be rejected by CDS. For example, Commodity Code 2203000100 has an import Condition on Organic Products.

When the Conditions link is clicked, a pop-up window appears with the control requirements that must be declared to satisdfy the condition:

Import control of organic products for All countries

Meet one of the following conditions and supply the relevant document code(s) on your declaration.
