CDSSG04420 - Navigating the Tariff, Step 4 - Understanding the relationship between Procedure Codes and Additional Procedure Codes

Additional Procedure Codes may only be declared in DE 1/11 if they are compatible with the Procedure Code declared in DE 1/10. These may be identified either by using the correlation matrix (see section CDSSG04410) or from within the specific Procedure Codes Completion Notes. The list of permitted Additional Procedure Codes allowed with a particular Procedure Code can be found above the Notes section at the end of the Procedure Code’s Completion Instructions.

If the UK Trade Tariff, CDS Volume 3 does not permit the combination of the DE 1/10 and DE 1/11 codes declared, the declaration will be rejected by CDS.

Each DE 1/10 Procedure Code specifies within its Completion Notes which DE 1/11 Additional Procedure Codes are permitted.

The Additional Procedure Codes declared in DE 1/11 for the goods item must be selected from the list of permitted codes.

Users must identify the compatible codes prior to making their selection to avoid declaring a code that is not a valid DE 1/10 and DE 1/11 combination.

For example, DE 1/10 5100 may be declared with code A04 in DE 1/11.

It may not be declared with B06 as this is not shown in the list:

Additional procedure Codes (D.E. 1/11):

The following additional procedure codes may be used with Procedure Code 5100:

Union Additional Procedure Codes:

A04, F15, F44.

National Additional Procedure Codes:

000, 1IE, 1PO, 2CD, 2CG, 3HG.
