Purpose of the list

There are two versions of the Returns Requiring Capture List.

  • Function LRLC is the update version.
  • Function LRLV is the view only version.

The purpose of the list is to show you returns that have been logged but not captured and that do not appear on any other work list.

How often should the list be reviewed?

The return details are usually captured straight after logging. Local Management should make sure that the Returns Requiring Capture List is reviewed monthly so no returns are overlooked.

Who does what?

An Administrative Assistant normally reviews and controls the list, locating any returns appearing on the list and capturing the details onto the COTAX record.

When are new entries added?

LRLC is updated daily when the reasons for entry are satisfied.

Reasons for entry

COTAX enters a case on the Returns Requiring Capture List when:

  • a return is logged
  • it is not captured
  • it is not on any other work list.

Sorting and filtering - Options and recommendations

Before you start to work cases, you may want to sort and filter the work list to make it more manageable. You can do that by using any of the criteria below. The criteria shown in bold are those you may find most useful when filtering the Returns Requiring Capture List.

  • File number.
  • Name.
  • AP end date.
  • B/F date.
  • B/F note.
  • Entry date.
  • Reference.
  • RLS.

The normal next action function

The normal next action function for the Returns Requiring Capture List is CRTN (Capture Return).

Automatic deletion

Cases are automatically deleted from the work list when any of the following applies.

  • Return is unlogged.
  • Return is captured
  • Case is transferred to a new office. The case automatically appears on the new office work list.

Manual deletion

You can delete a case manually from the Returns Requiring Capture List.
