Repayments / reallocations: repayment / reallocations work lists: functions

The table below tells you the function or functions to use in particular situations.

For details of how to access any of the COTAX functions, select Index of Functions on the left of the screen.

Situation Function
   
To record bank and / or nominee details on the COTAX record. BOND (Bank and / or Nominee Details)
To record on COTAX that HMRC Finance has cancelled a payable order. CNPO (Cancel Payable Order)
To check if the ‘inhibit repayment only’ or ‘inhibit reallocations and repayments’ signal is set. DAPD (Display AP Details)
To view details of an assessment. DASS (Display Assessment Details)
To make a repayment by payable order or Bacs that COTAX will not handle automatically.  
Responsible office DIRR (Direct Repayment)
  To make a repayment by payable order or Bacs that COTAX will not handle automatically.
The CT Unit Cumbernauld DREP (Direct Repayment)  
  To record details of a manually issued payable order on the COTAX record. MIPO (Manually Issued Payable Order)
  To set or unset for a particular AP the:  
  • ‘inhibit reallocation only’ signal
  • ‘inhibit reallocation and / or repayment’ signal.
Responsible office MAPS (Maintain AP Signals )
  To set or unset for all of a company’s APs the:
  • ‘inhibit reallocation only’ signal
  • ‘inhibit reallocation and / or repayment’ signal.
Responsible office MRSC (Maintain Rept / Realloc Signals (Comp)  
  To accept or reject a reallocation or repayment selected for authorisation. PRKR (Provide Risk Response)
  To record a self assessment. RAMA (Record / Amend Assessment)
  To set or unset for a particular AP the:  
  • ‘inhibit reallocation only’ signal
  • ‘inhibit reallocation and / or repayment’ signal.
Debt Management & Banking RAPP (Revise AP Pursuit)
  To reallocate a COTAX overpayment against liabilities of the same company which are outside COTAX.
Debt Management & Banking REAO (Direct Reallocation Out Of COTAX)
  To reallocate an overpayment on one AP against a liability for another COTAX AP of the same company.
Debt Management & Banking REAW (Direct Reallocation Within COTAX)
  To reallocate a COTAX overpayment against liabilities of the same company which are outside COTAX.
Responsible office REOD (Direct Reallocation Out Of COTAX)
  To:
  • reallocate an overpayment on one AP against a liability for another COTAX AP of the same company
  • give effect to a Section 963 CTA 2010 surrender.
Responsible office REWD (Direct Reallocation Within COTAX)
  To:
  • record an informal discharge
  • cancel an informal discharge. RINF (Record Informal Discharge)  
      To raise a manual interest charge RMIC (Raise Manual Interest Charge
      To set or unset for all of a company’s APs the:  
  • ‘inhibit reallocation only’ signal
  • ‘inhibit reallocation and / or repayment’ signal.
Debt Management & Banking RTPP (Revise Taxpayer Pursuit)  
  To check if an assessment or penalty determination is under appeal. VAPP (View Appeal)
  To:  
  • determine the payment position on the AP
  • view the status of a repayment
  • identify the individual postings that may have resulted in an overpayment. VPPD (View Payment and Posting Details)
      To view general information that is not specific to any one AP, for any company COTAX record.

You can view any of the following.

  • Company details.
  • Office allocation.
  • Agent details.
  • Communication name and address.
  • Acting In capacity details.
  • Case Notes.
  • Bank and / or Nominee Details. VTPR (View Taxpayer)
