Accreditation of community development finance institutions (CDFIs): Application for accreditation

To be eligible for relief under the CITR scheme an investment must be made in a body that is accredited as a CDFI. For background on the role of CDFIs see CITM1010.

The person responsible for accrediting CDFIs is the Secretary of State for the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS). In practice this function is delegated to the Director of Enterprise Environment at BIS’s Enterprise Directorate - see ITA/s343.

Applications for accreditation should be made to BIS, from whom further information about the form of the application can be obtained.

Full details on how to apply for accreditation may be found on the BIS website at (search for “CITR”).
