Goods for which the EU will accept third country ATA carnets: periods of use

Most goods can stay in the customs territory of import for a period equivalent to the life of the carnet.

However, there are instances where shorter periods apply. Replacement means of production (see ATACPD07300) and travellers personal effects (see ATACPD07450) can have shorter periods than the normal year.

When checking third country carnets for eligibility and the duration of importation, you should ensure that any shorter periods are accurately reflected on the carnet.
