AGL2625 - Operational assurance overview: Health and Safety: Risk assessments

There is guidance on the general principles of risk assessment and the management of health and safety on the About You Health and Safety intranet site. From here you can download a copy of a blank general RA2 risk assessment form. To help managers prepare their local assessment, there is an example of a general risk assessment (Word 159KB) available internally that may be used. This is not complete or exhaustive and we recommend that you consider preparing, if needed, risk assessments for businesses with peculiar or specific local circumstances.

We recommend that you include a risk assessment in the folder of each registered business, and that you look at and update it on every visit to the business, or when any information comes to light which may affect the health and safety of visiting officers.

It is likely that most, if not all, quarry and construction site operators will adopt a responsible attitude to the health and safety of their own and our members of staff whilst on site.

Most businesses should have their own health and safety risk assessments, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments if applicable. These should be available to our staff and, apart from giving us reassurance that the business takes their health and safety responsibilities seriously, may give information that is proper to our own risk assessments.
