Definition of Temporary Admission
Outlines the Temporary Admission procedure and how it can be used.
Temporary Admission (TA) is a customs special procedure that allows goods to be imported into the UK temporarily for a specific use, with relief from import duty and VAT, provided the relevant conditions of the procedure are met.
Temporary Admission can be useful for temporarily importing a wide range of goods into the UK for personal and commercial use. Examples of this include professional equipment, sporting goods, means of transport and items for auction, exhibition or demonstration in the UK.
When goods are placed under the Temporary Admission procedure, they must:
- be put to a specific use
- not be altered (except for maintenance to preserve their condition)
- be re-exported within a set time period
