5. Preparing for the test
What you need to do before a DVSA examiner arrives, what to do during and after a testing event, and what to do if something goes wrong.
You must confirm the test details on the manage your vehicle testing service at least one working day before the test.
You must:
- confirm which vehicle is being tested
- make sure the booked testing event gives the examiner enough time to complete the test on the vehicle
You can view the average time it takes to complete a test in the manage your vehicle testing service.
You should check that all equipment is calibrated and working properly, including:
- testing equipment
- wifi
- the communication system (microphone) for under-vehicle examinations
You should make sure that the office is available and clean for the examiner to complete any paperwork after the test
Contact DVSA if the examiner has not arrived by their scheduled start time. They may be delayed on their way to your site, but you should tell DVSA so they can investigate.
If the examiner completes all the tests booked in before the end of the testing event and no more vehicles are expected, the examiner may leave before the end of the session if the site manager agrees.
