Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI)

Finding and checking an EORI number

Information on how to find and check an EORI number.

HMRC keeps a database of all the EORI numbers starting GB and XI.

The EU keeps a database of all EORI numbers issued by member states. This database also contains all the EORI numbers starting XI that are registered to Northern Ireland.

If you cannot find your EORI number, you will need to sign into the digital registration. Use the details you used to register for an EORI number.

You should not sign in from any other page – for example, the business tax account, personal tax account or generic HMRC sign in page. Once signed in, your EORI number will be displayed.

Public checkers

GB EORI number checker

The GB EORI checker can be used to verify all GB prefixed EORI numbers.

The GB checker requires the user to input an EORI number. The checker will then confirm whether or not the EORI number is valid. If the holder of the EORI number has consented the name and address of the EORI number holder will also be displayed.

EU EORI number checker

This EORI number checker can be used to verify all XI prefixed EORI numbers and all EORI numbers issued by the 27 EU member states.

If the holder of the EORI number has consented the name and address of the EORI number holder will also be displayed.

You can update your consent to disclose information on the EORI number checker using the change of circumstance form for a GB EORI.
