Appeal your rejected .gov.uk domain name application

Follow these steps to appeal a .gov.uk domain name application that has been rejected.

If your domain name application is rejected, your organisation can appeal. The Naming and Approvals Committee will review your appeal and make a final decision.

How to appeal

If your application is rejected, do not resubmit your original application.

Step 1: Contact your .gov.uk Approved Registrar

Provide your .gov.uk Approved Registrar with new information on why you think you should have the domain name you originally requested.

Step 2: Submit an appeal

Your .gov.uk Approved Eegistrar will submit your appeal and this will be reviewed by the Naming and Approvals Committee.

Step 3: The Naming and Approvals Committee makes a final decision

The Naming and Approvals Committee will review your appeal and may ask you for further information. The committee will make a final decision within 5 working days and the Domains Team will let you know about the outcome.

If you have any questions about the appeal process, email domainmanagement@digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk.
