Our job opportunities are open to Russian nationals and non-Russian nationals, who have a legal status to live and work in Russia. Some positions have nationality restrictions due to security reasons, this will be stated in the job description of a position.

What qualifications do I need to work for the British Embassy or Consulate?

A good command of English and Russian, strong customer focus and communication skills are essential for all roles. Each job demands a different set of Civil Service Competency Framework competencies. Job descriptions will provide further details.

What are the visa requirements for Non-Russian nationals wishing to work for the British Embassy or Consulate?

All candidates are required to have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in Russia (residence permit, work or student visa). Please note that we neither assist in obtaining visas nor do we reimburse any expenses associated with obtaining Russian visas.

How can I find out whether my application has been successful?

When you submit your job application, you will receive an automatic reply to acknowledge receipt of your application. We only contact short-listed candidates for interview. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the deadline, you have not been selected for interview. However, we encourage you to apply for other roles for which you are eligible.

I am a UK citizen and want to apply for a position within diplomatic corps. Can I do it through the Embassy?

The local HR team deals with recruiting locally engaged staff members for the British Embassy within the Russia Network only. All UK-based staff involved in the Diplomatic stream are hired through the UK. Please consult the career’s section on the FCDO’s website for more information.

Do you offer internship opportunities?

Due to security restrictions and training requirements it is our current policy not to offer internships.
