Are you interested in doing your internships in an exciting, dynamic and international environment? Would you like to have the opportunity to start your professional career with a diverse team and, at the same time, make a real contribution to the British Embassy in Peru?

The British Embassy is in the search for interns who are dynamic, resourceful, task oriented, with a collaborative approach.

Three internship positions are open to students who are currently studying communications, marketing, business, economics or related degrees at an undergraduate level.

The internships will last for six months.

Description of the team/outline of area of work

The Economic & Commercial Development Team is a busy, friendly team leading the British Embassy’s work on commercial and economic development, promoting a better business environment and identifying and developing key future commercial opportunities.

Role description including core tasks

  • Research and analysis on specific commercial sectors, for example education, green growth, science & innovation, healthcare, urban development and infrastructure;
  • Support work to improve the business environment, including tackling specific trade barriers and market access issues;
  • Support economic monitoring and research, providing high quality, timely and clear reporting on economic trends and specific economic issues;
  • Event management, stakeholder engagement and other tasks as required;
  • There will be the opportunity to lead on specific areas of work as well as supporting other team members.

Description of the team/outline of area of work

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in Lima assists UK companies looking to take advantage of business opportunities in Peru and helps Peruvian enterprises locate to the UK.

Role description including core tasks

The role of the intern would be to play an integral part in delivering our services to UK companies. One of the key areas of importance will be in identifying and developing new and existing projects for UK companies, particularly in infrastructure so strong interpersonal skills and an ability to develop relationships will be essential. The work will also involve making arrangements for VIP visits from the UK and Peru.

Much of our work is research based so an ability to understand client requirements and source accurately is vital

Description of the team/outline of area of work:

Communications provides exposure and promotes this post’s work and the UK government’s priorities through different channels, handling internal communications work as well.

Role description including core tasks

Provides support in media monitoring. Takes photos and produces video coverage of events. Writes pieces for our web site; does Spanish/English translations. Updates databases and does research on current events. Provides support to events set up; does some social media work.
