Welcome reception held for British High Commissioner to Ghana designate, Jon Benjamin at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.

On 8 May 2014, the West Africa Section at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London in collaboration with Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) hosted a welcome reception for Jon Benjamin, the British High Commissioner designate to Ghana.

The reception was an opportunity for Mr Benjamin to meet with a number of high-profile Ghanaians in the UK, before his arrival in Accra at the end of this month. Mr Benjamin assured those present at the event of his commitment to maintaining and improving UK/Ghana relations, saying; “It is a huge honour and privilege to be able to represent the UK in Ghana. I look forward to working with the diaspora in the UK whose diversity and dynamism demonstrates that the UK/Ghana relationship is about so much more than politics.”

Nic Hailey, Director Africa at the FCO also used the occasion to welcome to the UK, His Excellency Victor Smith who is the new Ghanaian High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland.
