Warsaw celebrates Diplomatic Excellence
The first ever Diplomatic Excellence Award was presented at British Embassy Warsaw by UK's Minister for Europe David Lidington.
In an Oscar style ceremony, Martin Oxley (Director, UK Trade & Investment Poland) received the first British Embassy Warsaw Diplomatic Excellence Award from Minister for Europe David Lidington on 9 July. Martin’s award reflected a year of outstanding achievement. His citation read as follows:
Martin was the unanimous choice, for the useful contribution he has played to transforming the UKTI team, his work on the highly successful commerical diplomacy Emerging Europe brand, leading a rapid delivery of Lord Green’s Chambers of Commerce initiative in Warsaw and his key role in the Emerging Europe GREAT Campaign.
The two highly commended runners up were Justyna Kubica and Diana Kwaczantiradze. The fact that the three awards went to staff from different teams is testimony to the fact that diplomatic excellence permeates all parts of Embassy activity rather than just classic diplomacy.

The Warsaw Diplomatic Excellence Award was introduced by Foreign Secretary William Hague during his visit to Warsaw in September 2012 and is open to all staff. It is part of the Embassy’s efforts to enhance performance, raise standards and pursue diplomatic excellence across the mission.
