UK Trade Envoy brings energy trade delegation to Manila
George Freeman MP, will be in Manila on 17 – 18 June to boost trade and investment relations between the UK and the Philippines.
Mr. Freeman is the first ever Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for the Philippines. He is one of only 14 envoys appointed by British Prime Minister David Cameron to selected high-growth and developing markets, demonstrating the UK’s strong confidence in the growth of the Philippine economy and its intent to partner with the Philippines in deepening commercial ties.
During his visit, Mr. Freeman will meet with high-level government officials, local business leaders and the British business community. He will also formally open the British Business Centre, located in the Bonifacio Global City area of Metro Manila. The Centre, run by the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP), will provide high quality services to assist British firms seeking to do business in the Philippines.
Mr Freeman will be leading a trade mission composed of energy companies. The UK has world leading expertise and extensive capabilities across the energy sector – from renewable energy, building upon its serious commitment to reduce carbon emissions, to the oil and gas sector from its decades of experience in the North Sea. The UK is committed to produce 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.
The delegates will meet government officials and local key industry players to seek to forge commercial partnerships and explore opportunities to provide relevant energy solutions that can add value. The mission will meet with potential partners and clients in the oil and gas, renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors; as well as discuss with government possible collaboration for projects with local government units.
