UK supports new project on prevention of electoral conflicts
British Embassy Bishkek launches a new project through Legal Clinic Adilet aimed at prevention and resolution of electoral conflicts
In the run up to parliamentary elections in 2015 and presidential elections in 2017 in Kyrgyzstan, the British Embassy in Bishkek has launched a new two-year project aimed at preventing and resolving electoral issues that may lead to conflict. Funded by the UK Conflict Pool, this project will be implemented by our local partner, Legal Clinic Adilet. The project involves close cooperation with all stakeholders, including state bodies, political parties, NGOs, mass media and civil society. The project specifically focuses on bringing the electoral system and law more closely in line with international standards of fair, transparent and democratic elections. Adilet will work to improve the enforcement of electoral law, raise the legal culture and public awareness of the electoral process and create precedent through case law to further embed democratic election standards in Kyrgyzstan.
