UK Minister for Europe, the Right Hon. David Lidington MP visits Moldova

On 28-29 January, the Right Hon. David Lidington MP, Minister for Europe visited Moldova.

David Lidington visits Moldova

David Lidington gives an interview to local newspapers.

The Minister met with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and EU Integration Natalia Gherman, leaders of the pro-European Coalition, leaders of opposition, and the leader of the Gagauz autonomy, Mr Mihail Formuzal.

He also had meetings with representatives of public society, NGOs, British business, charities and diplomats accredited to Moldova.

During these meetings Mr Lidington discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues. He reiterated UK’s support to Moldova in its European aspirations and expressed confidence that Moldova will sign the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union by the end of 2014.

David Lidington gave a speech “Moldova, the European Union and Reform” at the Leogrand hotel on 29 January. The speech was followed by a Q&A session and a short press conference. At the end of his visit David Lidington gave an exclusive interview to “Adevarul’’ and ‘’Kommersant’’ newspapers.
