UK-Kuwait Joint Steering Group holds second meeting in Kuwait

UK-Kuwait Joint Steering Group (JSG) will hold its second meeting in Kuwait on 2 June, and the primary aim of JSG is to boost cooperation between the two countries.

Following a very successful launch in London during the state visit of HH the Emir of Kuwait in November 2012, the UK-Kuwait JSG will hold its second meeting in Kuwait on 2 June. The primary aim of JSG is to boost cooperation and to follow up on agreements and projects signed between the two countries. JSG consists of senior officials from the two countries headed by Mr Alistair Burt, UK Minister for the Middle East and North Africa and HE Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The group plans to meet twice a year. It is tasked with covering bilateral relationship and cooperation in regional issues, development , defence, migration, trade, investment, education and training, legislative and judicial, security, and healthcare. JSG is also tasked to follow up on the wide range of agreements and projects signed between the two countries during the November 2012 state visit.

Minister Burt will be visiting Kuwait to attend this meeting and to hold official talks with a number of Kuwaiti officials and parliamentarians. The second JSG meeting will be an opportunity to boost even further the already strong relationship between the UK and Kuwait on all levels.
