UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) is providing £300,000 (INR 2.70 crores*) to three non-government organisations - Action Aid, CARE and Christian Aid - working in the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand. The support will help these NGOs to scale-up their relief efforts and will provide food, shelter and basic supplies to local communities, who are cut off due to destruction of critical link roads in the worst affected districts.

UK support to NGOs will complement the Indian Government’s response and will coordinate with the wider response and recovery effort by other partners working in the affected areas.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and devastation caused by the flash floods and landslides in Uttarakhand. Our deep condolences are with the families who have lost their loved ones, homes and livelihoods.
